In the making of art, the mark, the comment, the idea are inherent.
To be human is to, most fundamentally, communicate. Cultural dialogue
is gathered from looking at past human accomplishments, failures,
meanderings and relating these to the present. Art, takes this vast and
sophisticated cultural dialogue, processes, manipulates and adds to it
a mark of the present. There is nothing omnipotent in the making of art,
but there is a sense of communicating through the apparent energy of the past
and equally a sense to propell this energy toward the future.

Art, successful art, that is art that succeeds to engage the mind,
to continue dialogue, is always open ended. Modern art is open ended.
There isn't a feeling of an end to the inquiry. It enters and penetrates
us into the labyrinth of inquiry.

Art has a way of getting itself made. Because? Because for some, for me,
it is a communication most effective, most viable, most valid. The creative
urge is very real and indescribably great. The realization of simply being
alive is never more poignant than when I'm sculpting, painting, printmaking,
creating. Art is our human way of celebrating our existence. For me, to ignore
this urge is ironically rather irrational.
